Traditional Metal Braces

These are a common choice for a reason. They are made of high-grade stainless steel and use small elastics to gently guide your teeth. They are reliable, effective, and a great way to show off some personality with colorful bands.

Ceramic Braces

If you’d prefer something that blends in a bit more, ceramic braces are a wonderful option. They work similarly to metal braces, but the brackets are made of a ceramic or clear material that matches the color of your teeth. These are very popular with our adult patients and older teens who want a more subtle look.

Which Type of Braces Should You Choose?

What foods should I avoid with braces?

We want to make sure your brackets and wires stay safe so your treatment stays on track. It helps to stay away from things that are very sticky, crunchy, or hard.

For healthy snacks like apples or corn on the cob, you can still enjoy them! Just slice the apples into small pieces or cut the corn off the cob first.

How do I brush my teeth while wearing braces?

It takes a little extra care at first, but you’ll be a pro in no time. Start by rinsing with water to loosen any food. Brush at a 45-degree angle along the gum line, then brush above and below the brackets to reach every spot.

Flossing is just as important. We’ll show you exactly how to thread the floss safely under your wires during your appointment so you feel confident doing it at home.

Do braces hurt?

Most people find that braces aren't painful, though your mouth might feel a little tender or "tight" right after you get them or after an adjustment. This usually goes away quickly. A simple saltwater rinse (one teaspoon of salt in warm water) can really help soothe any soreness. If you have a spot that feels scratchy on your cheek, a little bit of dental wax will clear that up right away.

How long will I need to wear braces?

Every smile is unique, so the timing is different for everyone. Most of our patients wear braces for somewhere between 12 and 24 months. Once we get started and see how your teeth are moving, we’ll be able to give you a much clearer idea of your timeline.

How much do braces cost?

The cost depends on the type of braces you choose and the specific goals we are working toward together. During your free consultation, we’ll discuss the costs for your unique treatment plan.
