Get Started

First-time wearers of orthodontic braces are generally reluctant to have these dental contraptions attached to their teeth for fear of soreness, hurting and overall agony. But what they do not know is that most dental braces, when fitted properly, do not cause pain. In most cases, there will only be slight discomfort accompanied by mild soreness at first. Other than that, there is nothing to be worried about.

A new sensation inside the mouth is nothing that should surprise first-time brace wearers. All it takes is a little time to allow your mouth to get used to their presence. One of these new sensations will be difficulty in chewing food. With some practice and a little adjustment, you can easily adapt to these changes. In no time, you will be able to eat and chew your food in the same way before you had dental braces fitted in your mouth.

For the first few days of wearing dental braces, meals should be liquid-based as much as possible. Experts suggest fresh shakes and yogurt. Slowly you can revert back to your usual diet after a few days.

During your first brace wire adjustment, it is natural that you'll experience a slight twinge. It is not only the teeth that will adjust to these new changes. Rather, this involves the entire mouthlips, inside cheeks and gums. But there is nothing that over-the-counter painkillers can't handle.
